Wedding Bells

” WEDDING BELLS ”
( or Tying The Knot or Gettin’ Hitched )

On December 28, 1962 wedding bells rang for Corinne Smith and Kenneth Woodall ! We were married at my grandpa’s house in Lula , Ga. deep in the north Ga. mountains. We picked my Grandpa ( Rev. Robert N. Wright ) to perform the ceremony since he was a Baptist preacher. We wanted a quick wedding , I knew that he married folks like a ” speeding bullet “. Usually 2 or so minutes. Over the years, when I was spending days at his house during the summer late at night folks would knock on the door and want to be married. I witnessed that lots of times. On this particular day , we gathered with him and one of Corinne’s best friends , Launia Nichols ( as a witness ). In the painting I used my ” Artistic License ” to have my grand ma there also, ( although she had passed a few years earlier). As years passed , I am so glad and proud to have had him there for my Wedding Bells !
