Barry's Drug Store Jam
Barry's Drug Store Jam
Long time friend Barry Palmer is a pharmacist that works one day a week at the oldest drug store in our town. On his work days, lots of his bluegrass buddies gather and really put on a show. Barry can play about all string instruments and has played several times at the Grand Old Opry. Unusual, unique, great happening once a week. It's worth stopping by.

The Well Digging
The Well Digging
Painting showing great memory of mine. I was lucky enough to attend a "well digging" in my younger childhood years. It was a normal happening back then when a neighbor needed help with a task that was very difficult. Lots of fellows would get together and get the job done. Great memory.

Mountain Peach Stand
Mountain Peach Stand
While staying a few weeks at my grandpa's house every summer around Lula, GA a common site to be seen in the area was a Fruit Stand. Especially at the right time PEACHES was the big thing. I recall directly across from grandpa's house was a little stand just like the one depicted in this painting. Enjoyed the years at his house. Good as anything else on planet Earth. Will treasure the memory forever.

The Goatman
THE GOATMAN
This painting is of the famous Georgia goatman, Ches McCartney. The goatman traveled up and down the US eastern seaboard for many years. As a child growing up along his route, I remember the happenings that would take place. He traveled with about 20-30 goats, some pulling the old rickety wagon. He would camp out on his journey in Cornelia, GA across from our old country store. He is shown here in downtown Cornelia making a turn at KNIGHTS 5 & 10 CENT STORE. People would gather around and watch. With him are his wife and son. Also included are locals TY COBB, banker Cliff Kimsey, my friend Butch Davis, my grandaughter and her father and others. A great event in my life.

O Brother
O BROTHER, DON'T WEEP PRETTY BABY

On occasion a motion picture inspires me to do a painting. This particular film was one of those. Loved this scene where the prison boys come up on the 3 nice young things in the river. What ensued must have been fun.

Easy Life
Easy Life
Years ago, I rented property to a former Preacher. Called himself an "evangelist" but had fallen from the ranks. Brought his house trailer and family with all the kids. One day I spotted his newest venture, a home made wooden camper placed on back of an old truck. Looked like an OUT HOUSE. Known to relax a lot, his family did all the work, including the fruit stand. Real character was HE.

Car Wreck
One of my memories from my father. My family was one of the first to purchase an automobile in the 1920's. While living in a small community in North Ga called Pea Ridge my father was elected to drive their first car. Since being the oldest son I suppose everyone thought he might be able to drive. But he could not, according to the story. On his first try........car wreck!!

Ken and The Peach...Ty Cobb
Growing up in North Georgia in the 50's was one of my greatest times. My hero was baseball immortal Ty Cobb. He lived in my home town during this time and my dream was to pitch to him. In this painting I have depicted that dream. Along with me and Ty at Bennett Park in Detroit is my grandson Drew and his baseball hero, Andrew Jones.
